Port terminal design sent back to the drawing board
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- "Now that we have some clear direction, we will come back with some ideas to address their concerns," said South Carolina Ports Authority spokesman, Byron Miller.
On Wednesday night Charleston's Board of Architectural Review deferred preliminary approval on the design of Charleston's new cruise terminal. Preliminary approval is the second of three steps in the BAR's approval process.
The BAR reportedly turned down the plan because they said the design looked too much like a warehouse. Miller says the BAR previously issued conceptual approval for the design in August, so now they will have to make some changes before re-submitting the design.
"It is not a set back at all," said Miller. "We have been in the design process for the cruise terminal for two years. Another 30 days to perfect the design... that is part of the process."
